Confused is the nation
The turn of the year 2014/2015 in Germany was marked by the rise of new political campaigns, groups and protests. Numerous Germans made their fears heard on the streets and through media. As quickly as groups like ‘Pegida’, ‘Bagida’, ‘Wuegida’, etc. appeared though, they disappeared again. Nevertheless, it became apparent how the population’s diverse fears fueled radical forces, xenophobia, and the turn on established parties during those months. This project wants to show with highlighting different views, facts and concepts which fears the Germans have, and how these were influenced through politics and media. Fear appears visually on different levels, is staged through graphic elements and goes through a constant design change.
