Social Design – product design for the brand SIDE by SIDE
Sheltered workshop. What exactly does this term stand for? What kind of work do people carry out there and what does work mean to them? What kind of things do they produce? Why are there still prejudices and clichés affecting the image of sheltered workshops and their products? The successfull brand SIDE by SIDE emancipated itself from that rigid image and competes with other brands in the professional design scene. SIDE by SIDE manages to point out the people and the social institution standing behind the products whithout provoking compassion for people with special needs. This work aims to give a holistic regard on SIDE by SIDE as well as sheltered workshops in general. A broad analysis serves to develope a targeted, marketable product for SIDE by SIDE.
