A new visual identity for the Munich Observatory
The Bavarian Public Observatory Munich is one of the largest and best known public observatories in Germany. The new visual identity is based on the idea of showing the universe on the theoretical side. The theoretical side is represented by the white negative space, in which facts, compressed to the essentials, can be illustrated. In addition to that the crosshairs are a central element that illustrate the zooming in and out. It symbolies the search and the associated attempt to bring something closer to yourself to get knowledge. The overall appearance of the new identity is factual and cool and follows a scientific aesthetic.
