Branded Interface Design for medical equipment

As interface design by now has covered the sector of consumer goods, capital goods still display potential in this regard. This thesis presents an approach, trying to achieve a benefit for the user within a professional context by branded interface design, specifically at medical equipment. In cooperation with the Mammendorf Institute for Physics and Medicine (MIPM), a styleguide, based on recently issued brand guidelines was developed, defining principles for the design of the brand’s user interfaces. By using deductions from the brand’s core values in combination with universal design principles, a distinctive appearance is created, stressing brand recognition and combining usability with professional aesthetics.
